The Elite? 8

After the round of sweet 16 games I am left excited yet very depressed at the same time. Is anyone else out there sick and tired of teams blowing 20 point leads to 1 seeds. I mean Tennessee makes sense, they live and die by the three. But USC, I can't explain it, they owned UNC the whole game. Then it happened, the turn around, or what I have come to refer to it, The Tyler Hansbrough gets all the calls comeback. I mean I haven't seen anyone get that many calls since Paris Hilton's cell phone number got released on the internet. The best was watching him back down Gibson and throw his elbows around then toss them into the air and suddenly Gibson got called for a hold. Then after 3 quick and horrible fouls on Gibson, he was forced to sit with 10 minutes to go and USC up 15. USC continued to abuse UNC's terrible one on one defense off the bounce and then after a few baskets for UNC, the Trojans ripped apart (no pun intended). They started taking handoffs at the arch and chucking bad shots and stopped penetrating. Then, after falling behind by 6 with 3 minutes left they force UNC to miss and drive down and do what? SHOOT A BAD 3. If they had simply drove and dished or drove and got 2's they would have tied and possibly won.

My Pick Still Alive,
How bout the Hoya's. Amazing game tonight. I mean, Green hits an amazing clutch shot through a double team and quite possibly a foul, yet all CBS covers after is how he walked, they zoomed on his pivot foot dragging prolly 2 inches while he gets mugged yet still hits an incredible bank shot in the clutch. Can't media just allow the game to show and stop searching for controversy. For the last 2 years everything is about what wasn't called and how the refs blew the game. In some cases it's obvious (Oregon/Oklahoma Football), but in a sport like basketball with under 5 to go you can't let the refs take the game away from the players. They've done it enough this weekend. They let Memphis win on what should be a no call under 10, they put Vandy on the line to go up with 6 left on Georgetown and almost cost the Hoya's on another no call. Lay off CBS, and enjoy the madness.

10 days....
Can you smell it, the sweet smell of grass in the air. The taste of peanuts in your mouth and the toughness of the bleachers on your ass. That's right, baseball season is just 10 days away. Here's to a steroid free, season of good games that will take us well into October, well if you are a Yankees fan that is.

Final Thoughts,
Josh McRoberts what are you doing? Honestly, you were a lotto pick last season with JJ and Sheldon, but you fell off the map this season. You had an amazing season for a player but could have taken over more games. I know you will be a good pro but it'd be nice to see you stay and develop even more. And what's with websites talking of Gerald Henderson being on the brink of going pro? No way, that'd be a huge mistake. Other notes for college..
OJ Mayo needs a Dad, before he becomes Marcus Vick
Wright (UNC), showed he should leave tonight. He lacks defense but is a freak athlete, perfect for the no d league.
The 1 Year Rule still sucks, it takes away from mid majors and prevents colleges from recruting players that would burn them after a year. That is all.
