NCAA FollowUp

Well, looks we have had no views so far, but that's not gonna stop me from posting. I my respect has increased today for someone new. Finally some sports writer has come forward on the Duke/UNC melee and has put it in plain view (taken from cbs.sportsline.com)

"No Coach K Kool-Aid for me. Not anymore. He's a great coach and recruiter, but is off-the-charts manipulative. He's eerily insightful, yet able to see no evil when the mood strikes. I'm not a Coach K guy. There's my bias. I admit it.
Which makes me an incredibly credible person to say this:
Gerald Henderson doesn't deserve your scorn, because he wasn't trying to hurt Tyler Hansbrough.
Coach K? Scorn him all you want. That seems to be his goal."
- Gregg Doyel, CBS SportsLine.com National Columnist.

My first matter of business is to of course thank Gregg. Finally someone has come out and said that it wasn't a dirty play. I myself am biased as a Duke fan, and that lowers the value of my opinion in my circle of bandwagon UNC/Syracuse Fans. Or as I like to call them, Regional and Jordan fans, the latter being those who know nothing of college basketball or UNC. As Gregg and myself both say, watch the video. TiVo is a great invention, rewind and watch in slow mo. Henderson was pissed, I'll grant that, but in no way did he intend to harm Hansbrough. Hell you can even see he had his eyes firmly closed and did not once change his course of swat. He was going up to make a statement with an exclamating block. Any one who has played pick up ball knows nothing is better than swatting someone and then being able to scream. Henderson was trying to save face and swat the shit out of a Hansbrough dunk. Imagine how the collision would have looked if the ball didn't come out, an event that Henderson didn't even notice since he had his eyes closed.
