NCAA Weekeend in Review

Dumb Guy 1
ok this is fucking ridiculous. i've been a big NCAA fan since i was 5. and i'm sick and tired of fucking writers bashing duke this year. we get it, they are bad. everyone knows it's a down year for a program that has been as consistent as them. it's about fucking time people start giving coach k a hand for the job he has done. any other coach in the league would have been lucky to go .500 overall let alone in the stacked ACC. I cant stand people like chad forde who act amazed at the mediocraty. the sad thing is, they are 22-9 (8-8) and still in the top 25. only three more losses than UNC and Florida with a far inferior team. i wish i could put this somewhere that matters. maybe i'll email bill simmons' mail bag. but i take the challenge of praising a coach who can consistently be good and take a bad team to a good record and a high NCAA tourny seed. why does everone hate duke? what did they do to you? is it cause there are a bunch of smart white kids that dont act like thugs, or just the fact that they are good.

now, who's fault is it for the fall in elite programs and inconsistency in college hoops today? the NBA, that's who. it's the "league's" fault that no program will be dominant ever again. especially one that has such high academic standards. either don't have an age rule, or make it 2-4 years. you are taking away the experience to build a team relationship for these kids. they skip that part and go on to the NBA to be "me players" and ruin the NBA.
College:
Jordan, Wade, Shaq, Magic, Larry Legend, Bill Walton, Hakeem, Kareem, Kidd, Chris Paul, Steve Nash, Carter, Jefferson, Agent Zero (i could go on for days)
No College: Kobe, LeBron, KG, T Mac (only three high profile players)
with a very few on the rise and i could spend days thinking of more.

so my message to you david stern is let the kids go pro, who cares if they are not ready. it's not the out of high school kids giving you a bad image david stern. it's the thugs that you have playing in your league. work on fixing that, but dont ruin the only good part of basketball left. The NCAA. I dont speak on this as a duke fan, i speak on this as a college basketball fan. i know no one will read this, but for those that do how many of you can honestly say you ENJOY watching the NBA for the whole season or even for a whole game. please, if you do, let me know, u are truely one of a kind.

I guess the sad part is that SportsCenter, and other programs of the like, give coverage to the NBA as though it is a far superior sport than others. The NHL is far more exciting and a good goal (which is rare in hockey) is better to watch than a routine dunk (which is every few plays due to the NBA having a 'no defense' policy). Basketball has little to no real contact (excuse Gerald Henderson's elbow), which makes for weak highlights. We get it, a ball goes in a basket. However, it happens so frequently that it gets boring. Hockey has far less scoring and is in constant action. Basketball has timeouts more times than not, and out-of-bounds plays every few seconds. Hockey is fast paced and continual action with 1 timeout per team (rarely used) and 4 TV timeouts per period. Oh, and when's the last time a hockey player went out on TV and demanded a lucrative contract or was seen driving to the arena with excessive jewelry or driving a "pimped out" car. Hockey players are humble because they speak with their talent, not through their agent or their clothing line or their "statement dunk" or their temper tantrum for ticky-tack fouls or...I think you can see where I was going with that. David Stern needs to grow a set, start enforcing some real rules, and bring basketball back to being enjoyable. The NHL revamped their league when it was in a lull, time to actually earn your paycheck.
